How to put medications on discharge summary without prescribing for contract bed or other transfers
When putting discharge medications to prepare for discharge you can select near the bottom of the prescription "No Print."
Selecting "No Print" will put the medication on the discharge medication list, but not prescribe the medication.
Finding outside records
if there is an e next to the patient's initials on the top left you can get "care everywhere" notes.

If external records are requested, they may be scanned in
External records can be found if you open the encounter and click the Chart Summary tab. Under the Chart Summary tab click media to find notes labelled External Medical Records.
How to open an encounter to complete a note after discharge
Click “Encounter” at top of epic page
Search patient by first and last name or MRN.
Select patient chart for the admission date in question. (select most recent inpatient encounter with usually either Dr. Dhawan or Dr. Ogburn listed as provider).
When opening up chart, a warning appears. Select complete note to enter encounter to finish notes.
Finding a month of weights values for a patient's visit
Enter the patient's encounter you want to see the vitals for.
Look at the top tabs list (the tab list with Chart Review, Notes, Results,etc).
Go to flowsheets, you might have to click the three dots at the end of the tab list to go to flowsheets.
Go to the "I/O" tab below "File" and to the right of Vitals.
Then click "Graph" which is around the middle of the row that starts with File.
Completing inpatient consult note for inpatient admissions
Start a new note and put Consults as the type of note and Psychiatry as the service.
Then click box to complete the inpatient consult order.
Type in "Patient is admitted to inpatient psychiatry. This note is to complete order."
Then sign note.
Finding orthostatic vitals
Check event log
Click the downward triangle (▼) next to the Summary, Notes, Orders top tabs and go to event log
Vitals will be shown including standing/sitting.
Discharge Summary
Uptodate, Pubmed, Qgenda
Find discharges in last 2 weeks
Click on top right magnifying glass to search.
Type in "My reports" and hit enter.
Open up my reports tab and search for "psy" reports
You can open up report titled "UHS 2 week psych patients discharged or transferred"
Looking up recent controlled substance prescriptions from Epic (PMP)
Click the downward triangle (▼) next to the Summary, Notes, Orders top tabs.
Look down the menu form PDMP (Prescription Data Monitoring Program)
After clicking on that you get immediate access to the PMP without needing to log in.
Find orders from previous admission
Click Encounter at the very top with a stethoscope next to it
Find and select your patient
Now select the admission you want to look at
Then go to Summary tab and click on event log, you may need to hit the triangle to see all the different tabs
Open chart.
Go to summary
Click on wrench on the right next to the summary tabs.
Go down the list and at the end of the list of tabs on the left column type in facesheet.
Hit accept and the facesheet will be on the list of tabs. (You might have to hit the arrow on the tabs to get the full list of tabs in the Summary section.
The facesheet will have the insurance and contact information.
How to find CIWA scores
Double click on your patient on the patient list
Go to triangle left of the wrench on the top right section of epic. The wrench that is to the right of the Chart Review, Summary tabs.
Then go to view-only doc flowsheet
Under the Read-only Flowsheets title there are a number of tabs including Daily Shift Assess, PSY 15 Minute Checks.
If you scroll the tab list using the right arrow button you eventually get to the CIWA tab.
Outpatient Ambulatory Connections consult
Here is information on how to put in an ambulatory connections outpatient consult.
Lab dotphrases
.resultrcnt[] In the square brackets put 1w for all labs in last week. put 24h to put in all labs in last 24 hours.
.resufast[] put in the specific labs you want. it has to be all listed out, e.g., .resufast[hgb,hbt,wbc,...]
You can make the above a smart phrase for yourself so .result will go to .resultrcnt[24h].
You can find the specific lab name by going to the test result -> "Lab Component SmartPhrase Guide-> Copy "Base Name" -> paste into your dotphrase under SmartPhrase Manager
You can also use Kevin Ha's Smart Phrase .KHMLABS or .KHFLABS (includes pregnancy test results) which includes most inpatient labs (CBC, CMP, UDS, EKG results)
